Michael is a Senior Group Leader in Neuroscience at the Champalimaud Centre for the Unknown in Lisbon, Portugal. He holds a PhD in Neuroscience from the University of California, San Francisco, and an MA (2002) and BA (1998) in Natural Sciences from Cambridge.
His research interests lie in systems neuroscience and the neural basis of behaviour. Using zebrafish as a model system, he combines imaging, genetics, behavioural analysis, and computational approaches to investigate how distributed neural circuits transform sensory information into action.
He is currently visiting the lab on a Simons Foundation Pivot Fellowship, working with Guillaume on dynamical systems and control theory approaches in behavioural neuroscience.
